One man's mission became a nation's movement.

1990

The Spark

Elman Ali Ahmed founds the organization. 'Drop the Gun, Pick Up the Pen' becomes a national mantra.

1996

The Sacrifice

Elman is assassinated for his peace work. Fartuun Adan is forced to flee with their daughters.

2006

The Return

Fartuun returns to Somalia alone, restarting the organization from a single room to honor the legacy.

2010

The Future

Ilwad Elman joins the mission. Together, they expand to address climate, gender justice, and human rights.
