Privacy Policy

Who we are

The Elman Peace and Human Rights Centre (“Elman Peace,” “we,” “us”) operates this website at elmanpeace.org. We are a women-led, Somali-founded humanitarian organisation with headquarters in Mogadishu, Somalia and a regional office in Nairobi, Kenya.

What we collect

This website is intentionally minimal in what it collects. We do not require accounts, do not sell data, and do not run advertising networks.

Stored in your browser only (never sent to our servers):

• Theme preference — which colour palette you selected.
• Hero rotation history — the last few hero images shown to you, so we can show you something new on each visit.
• Session flags — e.g. whether you have seen the site introduction animation in this session.

Collected when you contact us directly:

• Your email address and any content you include when you email one of our contact addresses.

Collected by third parties, not by us:

• Donations — processed by Every.org, a registered US 501(c)(3) public charity, which acts as our donation platform and issues tax receipts under their own exempt status. Their privacy policy governs the information you provide to donate. We receive a summary (donor name, amount, date) so we can thank you.
• Embedded content — some videos on this site are hosted by third parties (e.g. YouTube). Their cookies and privacy practices apply when you play them.

How we use it

Anything you share with us directly is used to respond to your message, process your donation, or contact you if you have asked to be contacted. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data.

Who we share with

We share data only with service providers we need to operate:

• Our email provider, to receive and respond to your messages.
• Our donation platform (Every.org), which is governed by its own privacy policy.
• Our website host, which serves this site and keeps minimal access logs for security purposes.

We may disclose information if legally required to do so by applicable law or to protect the safety of any person.

Your rights

You have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to correct it if it is wrong, to ask us to delete it, or to withdraw consent we have relied on. Email digital@elmanpeace.org and we will respond within a reasonable period.

Children

This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children through it. Our programmes do work with young people, but that work happens in person and under separate safeguarding and consent processes.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change.
